Introducing Empatica Alert App

Dear Embrace Supporters, In our latest update we promised to show you the Alert App. It has finally being approved after a long wait. We couldn’t be more eager to know your feedback to make it as cool as possible for the Embrace launch.

The Empatica Alert allows you to notify your loved ones with an SMS and an automated phone call when you need help.

In this blog post we are going to show you a preview on the features, what you can do with the Alert App, and how you can test it.

What can I do with the Alert App?

When and how can I test the Alert App?

The early Alert App access is reserved for existing Embrace supporters. Each of you will receive an email invitation with unique codes to activate the app, depending on how many Embrace watches you have ordered (each code is unique for one account).

Invitations will be sent out gradually: we are starting with early supporters and will extend the invitations according to the order date. If you haven’t received yours yet, don’t worry! We will get in touch with all of you during the next few weeks.

Please note that testing this app will not count against your included six months of Premium Service, which starts after you receive your Embrace watch (still on track to deliver to you in December — thanks for your ongoing patience!)

A few notes before you get started

The Alert App you will try already has the same functionalities as the final app, but the experience will be different since you don’t have an Embrace with you yet. For example, in this version you will have to tap the screen to activate an alert, while Embrace will do it automatically. At the moment you can send up to 5 alerts per week and add one caregiver with this version, while Embrace will have unlimited alerts and more caregivers.

Your feedback is important! This is a beta application, which means it will be polished and enriched with your suggestions. At the end of your onboarding session you will see a feedback screen where you can tell us what went well and what you would change. Tell us if you expected something in the app to behave in a different way. You asked so many times “How quickly can the caregiver be notified?” Try it yourself and let us know how it went. You can do it easily by sending a comment from the support section of the app.

Next steps for the Alert

We are working on several new features for the system Alert and we would love to know what you think about them. You might see some in the next releases:

  • Location tracking
  • A dashboard that tells you if the system is working correctly at any given time
  • Customization of the alert text messages and calls
  • Recording your own voice to replace the automated voice during the call, to make the system more personal
